Grayling Primary School recognises the importance of students being active and healthy. In our Physical Education program students are taught the importance PE has regarding their health and wellbeing. At Grayling we create a safe, fair and encouraging atmosphere for students to develop their skills and knowledge of sports.
Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students continually focus on developing their fundamental movement skills whilst understanding the importance of rules, fair play and cooperation. In Year 3 and 4, students begin to translate their fundamental movement skills into sports such as basketball, cricket, soccer etc. They decide on rules and scoring systems that is inclusive and begin to self-manage these rules. Lastly, Year 5 and 6 students, identify and implement offensive and defensive strategies into game settings. They become self-efficient in running their own games, understanding the roles and responsibilities of running a match as well as the importance of ethical behavior in sport.
Grayling Primary School recognizes that one period of PE is not enough time for students to be active. This is why we implement a range of extra-curricular activities throughout the year to encourage our students to be active and healthy. These include; PMP, 5/6 Sport, House Sport Competitions, Sports Clinics, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals, Lunch Time Sports Trainings and Staff V Year 6 Students Matches every term!
