Artwork

Grade 5 and 6 students have created these paintings inspired by the work of Australian painter Fred Williams whose landscapes were an expression of light, colour and texture.  As a response, students explored tools that aren’t brushes to apply the paint to their page. They used strips of cardboard and plastic to scrape and blend the colour. They explored using forks and bottle-brushes to create texture. This project has built on students’ prior knowledge of colour mixing and encouraged them to build layers of painted detail. I’m so proud of the results, every artist has created something so unique.
